Technical english

This course is designed to develop Master’s students’ ability to use English effectively in the field of urban studies, urban planning, and urban development. It focuses on improving students’ technical vocabulary, academic reading, professional communication, and writing skills related to urban environments.

Throughout the course, students will engage with authentic texts, case studies, maps, planning documents, and research articles related to urban issues such as sustainable cities, transportation systems, housing policies, urban governance, and smart cities.

The course aims to help students:

  • Understand and use specialized terminology in urban planning and urban development

  • Read and analyze academic and professional texts in urban studies

  • Develop skills in writing summaries, reports, and short research papers in English

  • Improve oral communication and presentation skills in professional and academic contexts

  • Discuss contemporary urban challenges and planning strategies using appropriate technical language

Teaching methods include interactive discussions, vocabulary exercises, text analysis, presentations, and project-based learning.

By the end of the course, students will be able to communicate clearly in English about urban planning concepts, interpret professional documents, and present urban projects or research findings effectively.
